In light of the recent events surrounding St. Anthony, and the impact that has had on our Village and surrounding areas, VillageFest has partnered with the city and has made the difficult decision to cancel the parade on Friday night.
Our police force and surrounding police forces have been working together to continue a safe environment for us all. The parade requires an extensive amount of resources from the police, fire and public works departments, that are currently stretched to their limits. With that being said we have decided to forego the parade to ensure that the rest of the Friday night and Saturday activities can go on as planned. VillageFest is about celebrating the great community that we have, and while that might look different this year, we want to continue the tradition of this local and cherished celebration.
Please still plan on attending the street dance in the St. Anthony Shopping Center on Friday night at 7pm. All activities are still scheduled to go on as planned. Unfortunately this decision was made after local papers had gone to print, so the information is incorrect in the upcoming publications. Please check our schedule on-line for the most updated information.
For all that planned on being a parade participant and are sponsoring VillageFest- you will be contacted separately.
We know this is not welcome news as the parade is a highlight of our festival. But please know we have made this with the best of intentions to keep our community safe.
